Can my dog travel on NT buses in North Jutland and Aalborg?

Yes — if you meet every condition.
What this means for you: North Jutland takes dogs almost everywhere: regional buses, Aalborg’s buses, the Nordjyske Jernbaner trains — on a lead, child fare. The only window that bites is Aalborg’s city buses on a weekday morning and afternoon; plan those hours on foot or by train, or push a trolley.

- Who gets on
- Small dogs and other small pets ride free in a bag, cage or transport box they stay in for the whole trip. A bigger dog — one that isn’t in a bag — rides on a lead, under your control, for a child fare. One dog on a lead per customer. Staff decide whether there’s room.
- Who doesn’t
- A dog on a lead on Aalborg city buses (lines 1–49) on weekdays 07:00–08:30 and 14:30–17:00. A closed dog trolley gets round it. Guide and service dogs with an emblem are exempt.
- How much
- A child ticket for a dog outside a handbag. Small animals in a handbag ride free.
- Where they ride
- On the floor, on a lead, or in a closed trolley. Never on a seat.
- Never, whatever the size
- Nothing by breed. One dog on a lead per customer.
- Where this applies
- North Jutland (Aalborg, Frederikshavn, Hjørring, Thisted) — regional and local buses under this authority. The city networks and trains are below. Double-check who actually runs your service.
- Assistance dogs
- Guide dogs and service or signal dogs with an emblem ride free on every bus and train, rush hour included.

The national rule applies on every mode, so the question in Denmark isn’t whether, it’s when and where. 2 of the 2 networks below take a big dog on a lead; the exceptions are rush-hour windows and one city-bus ban.
Where a big dog rides — on a lead, at child fare
There are two networks where the idea is the same: lead, off the seats, and you clean up. Muzzles and fares vary, so read the row.
A bigger dog rides on a lead at child fare, except weekdays 07:00–08:30 and 14:30–17:00, when only a closed dog trolley gets a dog on. Guide and service dogs exempt.
Small animals in a handbag ride free. An animal outside the bag normally needs a child ticket, stays on a lead and off the seats; staff can refuse one that bothers others.
